This month, we are proud to celebrate a valued community partner, Redwood Credit Union (RCU), whose commitment to hands-on service continues to make a meaningful difference. Their team shows up, rolls up their sleeves, and volunteers twice a month at our food distribution hosted in the parking lot of Bayside Church on Monday mornings in Roseland.
This distribution is one of our largest, serving around 280 neighbors each week through both drive-through and walk-up services. As the site continues to grow, it has become increasingly difficult to secure enough volunteers to keep up with demand. At the Redwood Empire Food Bank, safety is essential to every successful distribution. When volunteer numbers are low, we must adjust operations to maintain a safe, fair, and efficient experience—which can sometimes mean longer wait times for the community members we serve.
Redwood Credit Union has long volunteered regularly at our Distribution Center, and over the last year they have expanded their support directly into the community, right where we need it most. With a rotating team of a dozen or more volunteers, RCU supports this distribution twice each month. Their presence strengthens setup and breakdown, streamlines operations, and helps get food into the hands of our neighbors faster.
Over time, their team has become more than familiar faces—they are part of our volunteer family. We are incredibly grateful for RCU’s ongoing partnership and the care, consistency, and energy they bring to this work. Together, we continue to make a meaningful difference in our community.
