Volunteering With the Redwood Empire Food Bank—Make a Local Impact

At the Redwood Empire Food Bank, we believe that no one should go hungry—and every day, volunteers like you help turn that belief into action. Whether you have a few free hours or are ready to make a regular commitment, there's a place for you here.

With a variety of ways to get involved, it’s easy to find a role that fits your interests, schedule, and passion for giving back. Take a sneak peek and find a volunteer opportunity that works best for you:

Our Opportunities:

In the Warehouse: Help sort and pack groceries, build boxes for seniors, and prep fresh produce for distribution. This behind-the-scenes role is the heartbeat of our operation—keeping food moving efficiently and safely. Get a glimpse of the Warehouse.

At Distribution Sites: Be on the front lines of hunger relief by handing out groceries directly to neighbors in need. These upbeat, outdoor events are fast-paced and full of connection. See what it’s like to volunteer at a Distribution Site.

Bilingual? We need you! Check out our W5 volunteer roles where you can help participants check in and put your customer service skills to great use.

In the Kitchen: Join our Chef in the Kitchen Collective and help prepare nutritious meals and snacks for kids, seniors, and families. Our On the Spot snacks provide instant nourishment at distribution sites. No chef hat required—just bring your willingness to help! Take a peek inside the Kitchen.

At the Food Connections Market: Support partner organizations as they shop for groceries in our dignified, supermarket-style market. Volunteers stock shelves, answer questions, and create a welcoming experience for all. Step inside the Market.

At the Farm: We’ve partnered with Farm to Fight Hunger, and you’re invited to get your hands dirty for a good cause. Harvest fresh, locally grown produce that goes straight to families facing food insecurity. The best part? 100% of what’s grown is donated—with a focus on culturally relevant foods that truly nourish. See what it’s like to harvest fresh produce on the Farm

No Experience? No Problem.

Whether you're a first-time volunteer or a seasoned pro, we’ll make sure you feel welcome and ready. We provide all the training you need—and our friendly team will support you every step of the way.

Volunteering as a group? Perfect. We love working with companies, clubs, schools, and families to create powerful team-building experiences with a purpose.
