Tap Out Hunger: Trivia Nights That Pour Back Into the Community

What do beer, brainpower, and fighting hunger have in common? At the Redwood Empire Food Bank, they come together in one of our most fun and impactful fundraising events: Tap Out Hunger Trivia Night.

Hosted by our very own Trey Hart, Grant Writer at the Redwood Empire Food Bank, Tap Out Hunger Trivia Nights are high-energy, community-centered events held at breweries across Sonoma County. Trey brings the questions, the humor, and the friendly competition—while our supporters bring the teamwork and good vibes.

How It Works:

Each Tap Out Hunger event features two one-hour trivia games, giving teams plenty of chances to test their knowledge, enjoy great local brews, and connect with others who care about making a difference. Whether you’re a trivia pro or just in it for the laughs, these nights are designed to be welcoming, fun, and meaningful.

Between the two games, we keep the excitement going with a raffle packed with great prizes. Guests have the chance to win brewery swag, Redwood Empire Food Bank gear, and other fun items, making the night even more memorable—and adding another way to support our mission.

Best of all, 100% of ticket sales go directly to the Redwood Empire Food Bank, helping provide nutritious food to neighbors facing hunger. Our brewery partners often go the extra mile by donating a portion of their beer sales from the night—and in many cases, food trucks on site chip in too, turning an evening out into a powerful act of community support.

We’re proud to have hosted Tap Out Hunger Trivia Nights at breweries throughout the county, including Barrel Brothers Brewing, Golden State Cider, HenHouse, Fogbelt, and Parliament. Each location brings its own unique atmosphere, but the mission stays the same: come together, have fun, and help fight hunger locally.

We typically host Tap Out Hunger Trivia Nights once a quarter—if not more often—and we’re always looking for new brewery partners who want to give back in a creative way. If you have a brewery in mind that would be a great fit, we’d love to hear from you. Please email our Communications and Community Engagement Manager, Nicole Lorange, at nlorange@refb.org.

More fun (and more questions!) are definitely on the way. Stay tuned for updates—we’ll be sure to share when the next Tap Out Hunger event is coming up. We can’t wait to tap into your trivia skills again and continue ending hunger together.
