Value Market

The Redwood Empire Food Bank’s Value Market is the first grocery store of its kind in the United States. Designed to offer a reliable and affordable source of groceries to our neighbors in need, the Value Market stocks trusted brand name products, fresh fruits and vegetables, and an assortment of quality dairy products, all at competitive prices. Participants in the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition program and CalFresh (Food Stamps) are welcome to shop at the Value Market, as well as everyone participating in Medi-Cal and all REFB food distribution programs. Customers not enrolled in these programs can also self-verify based on household income. Friendly, bilingual cashiers are always available to help and to answer questions.

Program Impact

The Value Market builds a bridge from food assistance to self-sufficiency for those we serve. Connecting our neighbors in need to affordable groceries, including seasonal varieties of fresh produce and quality, brand-name staple items, the Value Market cultivates a welcoming, dignified environment. The Value Market also distributes thousands of pounds of fresh produce at no charge to increase the nutritional intake of shoppers, and supplement emergency food boxes received through the Food Connections office, which is located next door to the market for added convenience.

Community Reach

The Value Market sold 14, 700 bags of affordable, brand-name groceries and fresh produce last year to our neighbors throughout Sonoma County and beyond. Additionally, customers received 31,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables at no charge through the Value Market’s weekly free produce promotions.
